Using The Uno Skip Card: The Tricks Nobody Is Talking About On The Internet!

| September 6, 2023 | Last Updated on: May 11, 2024 | Sports

Skip cards have been considered to be a staple of the Uno game since its very inception. The Uno skip card gives players the power to simply skip someone’s turn. It is a pretty useful tool for gaining a major advantage in the game.

However, there are multiple rules that need to be followed when you are playing with a Skip card. It is a special card – when you use it strategically, you can easily enhance your winning chances and, just as a bonus, also frustrate your opponents during the game.

Today, we will talk about the Uno Skip card – the frequently asked questions, the official rules, and more. So, without wasting time, let’s dive right in!

But First, What Are The Original UNO Rules Saying?

There is no doubt that UNO is one of the most popular card games people play across the world. Since its launch years ago, the game has evolved, and currently, there are several variations of the game that exist.

As a result, it becomes difficult to remember the different rules for different variations – we understand.

This is precisely why we are going to briefly check out the original rules for the game before we talk about the skip card and its variations.

1. Setting Up UNO:

Two to ten players can play UNO as long as all players are seven years and older. Each player begins playing with seven cards – these cards are all dealt face down. The remaining cards are then kept in a Draw Pile while they are facing down. Just beside the pile, a space should be kept for the Discard Pile. Now, to begin the game, the topmost card from the draw pile has to be kept in the space designated for the Discard Pile.

2. Playing UNO:

The gameplay starts with the player sitting on the dealer’s left – you can just select the youngest one sitting with all of you, with gameplay typically following a clockwise direction. Moreover, each player views their cards, trying to match the cards in the Discard pile.

Additionally, you have to ensure that you are matching either by color, number, or action/symbol. For example, if there is a red card in the discard pile and it happens to be the number 8, then you can place either a card with the number 8 or a red card. Also, you can opt to play a Wild card instead to alter the color in the gameplay.

Moreover, if the player doesn’t have a number 8 or a red card, then they will have to draw a card from the Draw pile. Please note that the player can have a match and still choose not to use the card – even in that case, the player will have to draw a card from the same pile.

Now, if they can play the new card, then that would be great; otherwise, the card would get added to their existing lot of cards. The gameplay then moves to the person next.

So, What Is An Uno Skip Card?

So, what is the skip uno card?

Uno Skip cards come in all the four colors,

  • Red (red uno skip card),
  • Green(green uno skip card),
  • Blue (blue uno skip card), and
  • Yellow(green uno skip card).
So, What Is An Uno Skip Card

The card has a forbidden sign right in the center of the card, while the bottom right and top left corners come with two printed forbidden signs. The purpose? The purpose is to provide the players an opportunity to disrupt another player’s turn.

When a player actually plays a skip card, they simply choose any player, including themselves, whose turn can get skipped during that particular round.

It is obviously an ideal way to simply stop an individual from getting too ahead in points or even prevent them from actually playing beneficial cards to their hand.

Also, a Uno skip card is worth twenty points – and yes, you can win a game of Uno with a skip card as per the official rules of the game.

UNO Skip Card Rules:

So, How to play Uno skip cards?

The Uno skip card rules are very simple. If any player uses the skip card, then the player who is next simply loses their turn for that round.

Now, what if you are playing with another player only? The skip card does not really come with any special rules for two players. However, if you happen to be playing a Uno game with two players and you use the skip card, then you will get to play another card after playing the skip card immediately. And, like always, your opponent simply loses their turn.

Can You Stack 2 Skip Cards In Uno?

Are you familiar with the Uno stacking rules for skip cards? When more than two players play Uno, the official rules mention that two skip cards cannot be stacked. So, you cannot really do stacking in the case of using a skip card.

What Card Can You Play After Playing A Skip Card?

The moment you play a Uno skip card, the next player will lose their turn to play for that particular round. Then, the turn automatically passed to the next player. Now, this player can obviously play any card that is valid and matches their gameplay strategy. It can be an action or a color, a wild card, or even a number.

How To Use Uno Skip Cards Strategically?

Uno skip cards not only help solo players but also can prove to be very beneficial for winning the game if used with the right kind of strategy. The skip uno reverse card or other variations are also equally beneficial – just remember, with the correct strategy, you can do wonders with this card!

Here are some of the ways in which you can use the skip cards to their complete potential.

Tip 1: Timing Is Definitely Everything

Timing is definitely everything when it comes to playing your Uno skip cards.

While playing this card, it is vital to plan from before and then time the same appropriately. If you don’t use the card to its complete potential, then you are just wasting your efforts, time, and the card.

Tip 2: Knowing When to Skip…And When Not To Skip

Knowing when to use your Uno Skip card is absolutely integral for your success in the game. This is very similar to finding out what does shuffle hands mean in uno – and, most importantly, when to do it!

If the other players are going to play their Draw Two or Wild cards, then it is the perfect time to use your skip card. And not just skip cards – in case you want to waste someone’s turn entirely, then just opt for using an uno block card!

Tip 3: Save It Till The Final Rounds

Perhaps one of the best strategies to use a skip card is to simply wait for the final rounds during the game. That way, you will be certain that your opponents will not be able to use any other cards to give you the upper hand by actually doing this.

So, it is always a good idea to save some special cards for the final rounds – it doesn’t matter whether you are saving a yellow or a blue skip uno card. As long as you save a few, you are fine!

Tip 4: Target Skilled Players

If you really want to win the round of Uno you are playing, then you need to closely observe the most competitive players in the game. That way, you will be able to avoid the pitfalls and easily stop the players from gaining an advantage over you by prioritizing their achievements.

Plus, you will know when to disrupt them – and that is really the point, isn’t it?

Tip 5: Know How Long You Have To Hold The UNO Skip Card

Keeping your Uno skip card with you even after you have decided whether or not to actually use it can still be considered to be advantageous.

Understand that the point is to use a skip card when it is appropriate and then just make the most of it. Use your Uno skip turn card with the right tactics so that you can maximize your abilities on the card.
